Benson Memorial United Methodist Church

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Radical Discipleship. Christian Formation. Benson Memorial’s Youth Program is all about making disciples of our young people, helping them to connect to others and recognize God’s presence and call upon their life.

We believe that the church is to be in dynamic ministry to our youth, that we are to be in vibrant ministry with our youth, and that youth also play a role in ministering to the body of Christ with excellence. In so many ways, young people are not the future of the church, they ARE the church NOW! Made up of grades 6 through 12, the youth ministry at Benson has been a strong part of the church for decades.

Our youth program is structured around three main weekly events. Newcomers are welcomed at all of our events; regardless of where you’re from or where you’ve been, we want to get to know you!

  • Sunday School, 9:45am, Youth Center. Sunday School is divided into Middle School and High School. Here, our young persons work to bridge the gap between God’s vital word and their day-to-day reality under the guidance of adult facilitators and teachers.
  • United Methodist Youth Fellowship, Sundays, 5:00-7:00 pm, Youth Center. A time for Middle and High Schoolers, we meet together for catching up on the latest happenings, for great food lovingly prepared by our parents, for games, and for activities and thoughtful devotions that might range from guest speakers to deep discussion to painting a banner for an upcoming event.
  • Senior High Bible Study, Thursdays, 7:00 pm. The Senior Highs meet together at the home of Robert and Linda Boone for engaging, in-depth Bible Study. This group is and has been tremendously popular amongst our Senior High youth.

In addition, other events like monthly Fellowship Fridays, Confirmation, Pilgrimage (North Carolina’s United Methodist Youth Festival), a Ski-Trip, Spring Break Missions, and many, many more activities help to make the Benson Youth experience a great one.
